Any good story has amazing three dimensional characters. You know the ones, the ones that drawl you in and makes you part of their world. But it doesn't stop there, oh no. Any author struggles for the background and bringing their characters and story to life. It is every writers aim to make you part of the story and not an observer looking in. This is the basis of a good story. Each one has to have a beginning, middle and end. Without these elements your story comes up dry.

Then there is every writers nightmare, the dreaded writers block. Now there are many ways to get out of this but mine normally fixed by listening to music. Sometimes all it takes is a break from a project. There others that find walking in the woods, hiking or taking a long bath or shower will enlighten them. The main thing is don't beat yourself up.

Then we come to the action. Action is what propels the story along. Tension is the glue that holds it together. The characters have to have a goal. What do they want? What is the consequences of getting what they want or not getting it? How does it affect them? All of these elements must be present for a good story.

In what time I have been writing these are the things I work on the most. It isn't often I have writers block but I do struggle at times with the tension. Characters can be brought to life from sitting and watching people. I have sat In a restaurant before and come up with stories of what might be going on in their lives.

Play with it and enjoy the craft of creating a new world.
