So today I am blogging about how Carter Blake got his character. He was brought to life by a character that I loved on an unusual show that I'm sure would not fit into a romance category. Carter Blakes books in actions Comes from fan fiction from the television series The Vampire Diaries. Does that surprise you? Maybe it should. Carter Blake was created from a real-life Damon Salvatore man and the character he created on The Vampire Diaries. Ian Somerhalder / Damon Salvatore. Although his character is watered down a bit, the character that was Damon has also been leaked into Carter Blake. Shall we talk to him?
Interview:
So, Carter can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Carter Blake: It’s good to be with you today I appreciate you asking me to stop by. For those who don't know me, I am a detective and have worked towards that career for some time. It's something that I find extremely satisfying. I am now 30 years old and married with 3 children, one who is about a year old the oldest one is 8 years old, I just met her a few months ago. It's a long story.
Can you tell us about your relationship with your family?
Carter Blake: my relationship with Isabella is going well, we have been married almost 2 years she would correct me I'm sure if she were here. (He laughs) but we fought our way to each other through it all we've learned how to love and let go of the past. We still have some issues to work out, but I'm sure between the two of us and some help from our friends, we will overcome all the obstacles that have been set before us.
Tell us about your children are they well adjusted, I mean you did adopt one child while your wife was pregnant with one and then finding that she had fathered a child before you married Isabella.
Carter Blake: They're all well-adjusted I think, as far as that goes. Of course, the baby is doing fine, Molly is doing well and is in school now and which she loves. She comes home. Every day with something new we're so proud of her. Ben still has a difficult time with the loss of his mother and father very young age, but he is adjusting to our family well me and Molly or pretty much inseparable most of the time He is not my blood child but he might as well be by loving as such. Our oldest however, has had some difficult times adjusting to her family life. It's difficult for a child when she has been raised by another man and woman that she looked to as mom and dad and then finding out that they were not her blood parents. But she is settling in well and to allow our family some privacy so that we can grow as a family and that our family can heal from such things as our past we will revisit her at another time.
I understand that the writer took your characterization and looks from a television star and some other people that she knew thrown together. Do you feel that you reflect the hooks and character of a famous television character? Do you feel that your personality reflects that of a character named Damon Salvatore?
Carter Blake: I can't say that I really don't know I've never met that character, nor the person that potrayed him I have been told that I am similar in ways. As far as me, I am the person that I am an have been created through the actions and trials that I have been through in my life that has created me.
I understand that you had some a substance abuse issues as you were growing up and that is part of why you also met Isabella at an early age is that true?
Carter Blake: it's not something that I'm proud of but, yes, I did have some substance abuse issues as I was growing up. At the time it was the only thing that I could do to push such horrid memories behind me and try to live as a normal person. It's not the answer, but at the time I felt like that was all that I had. I was blessed with great parents from birth and they were taken away by a drunk driver at an early age And I was fortunate enough do you have a loving couple to adopt my sister and I after we had been severely neglected and abused by our foster family. I will ever be grateful to them. Since I have known them longer than my blood parents, I have come to love them as much as I did my parents. It's very difficult when you lose a parent at a young age, I have done everything in my power to assist my own daughter Molly through that loss when we lost her mother to cancer. Although Molly tells me that her mother visits her or did quite often, she never knew her in life other than the touch that she had in the loving care she had as an infant. She never really got to know her mother.
As far as the drug addiction it nearly took my life. Once you are hooked and your supplier is there, and you can get your fix easy it's difficult to break away. I don't remember much about the last couple of months of my addiction other than what my father told me. I guess he found me sitting on my bed in my room with his handgun ready to kill myself before I was institutionalized for drug rehabilitation.
When it comes to Isabella, I met her early on before I ever went into rehab. I will leave you to read the story about that. Isabella, however, was a young girl and I was a grown man at the time. I adored her as a person and come to find her after my wife passed and fell deeply in love with her, she is my soul mate Anne I'm so grateful every day that she's by my side.
