You hear of kids bullied daily, and it’s a sad thing. No one should ever have to worry about being physically or mentally injured. There are times when it has resulted in death. There is more than one form of bullying. As an adult, you would never think of being bullied. Unfortunately, it isn’t true. Some Adults are equally bullied. While there are laws against bullying a child, no protective laws are protecting an adult. The Ohio laws and any other state do not cover bullying from one adult to another. This being said, we are the only ones to stop such things. I have written to the state representative, in which I have yet to hear from him. I have waited for almost a year to bring this forward. Since then, I have read of nurse’s who have been bullied by the people that were supposed to be mentoring them and or by their supervisor or direct boss. There is a high rate of suicide from this type of behavior as they feel there is no way out. Everyone has to work and or to live. Am I an advocate? I guess you could say that in some respect. I am not only trying to raise awareness, but I am also a victim of workplace bullying. Regrettably, those people that are in place to help the working man and to protect their rights were unable to assist me. Not because it didn’t happen but because there are no laws against it. The Ohio Civil Rights stated they felt I had a case was unable to do anything because it didn’t result in death, I guess. No Lawyer would represent it because, again, there was no law. So what is the working man supposed to do without protection? If you are at work at will, they can basically do whatever they like without repercussions.

The damage done to a victim takes a long time to get over if at all. This is also a form of mental abuse. They play mind games, anything to keep you under their control. Sometimes it is nothing more than a ploy to get rid of an older employee. Maybe they are up for a promotion, raise, etc. In my case, I had been with the company for 36 years. Now you understand. By the time I left the facility, as they had threatened to fire me, I felt I wasn’t good at anything. I came to the point of suicide folks. That’s not what God had in store for me. My boss at the time had created a hostile work environment in which I had no choice to get out. Since then, I have taken on a different job at a different facility which feels like home. I love what I do and the people I care for. Am I vengeful? Maybe. Do I wish they could get some of their own medicine, absolutely.
