Hello everyone and welcome. In light of of what I have been experiencing in my career, I have decided to write a nonfiction book on nursing. With that being said there will not be any patients identity compromised. As a nurse you are governed by what is called HIPPA which is health insurance portability and accountability act. If you don’t know what this means the definition is simple. This means any healthcare worker cannot release information on any patient they are caring for rather it being record or knowledge of the patient’s condition without the consent of that patient. It is a privacy act that protects the patient and their rights.
I have had several thoughts of it in the past of doing this project. For some reason I didn’t feel that it would be beneficial or that anyone would be interested in what it was like to be a nurse in the real world. Although I do right fiction romance that deal with professional healthcare it isn’t always what is in the normal. It is fantasized and dramatized. Nursing is a healthcare profession if you want to look at it this way is living in a day to day drama. There are unbelievable things that happen either inflicted or non-inflicted by an individual that is treated and cared for each day by a nurse.
Without going into great detail, nurses in the media have either been glamorized or have been degraded by them. Rather that be intentional or non-intentional is not in question. It wasn’t until one of the recent beauty contests in the last couple of years that really infuriated me. Not the contest itself but what was mentioned by a talkshow. It goes to show you that they had no idea of what a nurse does. The question being is why she had a stethoscope around her neck she was not a doctor. The answer is clear if you know the profession and what they do. The nurse becomes the secondhand of a physician. He or she carries out that positions orders and becomes the eyes and the ears of that position during a hospital stay. Since the doctor cannot be there 24 seven in small facilities they rely on nurse practitioners, physicians assistants, and registered nurses to care for these patients on a 24-hour basis. They are knowledgeable well trained in medical and surgical care and emergency care. They are the closest thing that I know of to the military. In what I mean is that they become a brotherhood of people who live and breathe medical knowledge and understanding. They see things that no normal individual will see in their lifetime.
It is my intention to write from my point of view, and only by point of view of what nursing is and what it is about through my eyes. I am an expert on the topic as I have been in nursing for 38 years. I’ve seen people come into the world and also to leave it, it’s what you find in the middle that makes life amazing. It’s difficult not to see God in the picture when it comes to human life. Now I know I will get some debate on that but the human body is an incredible machine that no man could’ve ever thought of creating. It is my intention to take you on a journey that you won’t forget, one that was taken by a young naïve girl to an adult woman. This will be my story.
