Topsail Island is one of most loved vacation spots. The area is quiet and family oriented. Once you cross over onto the Island it is time to relax and distress. My husband and I have been taking in the Island time for over 25 years and it never gets old. The sand and roar of the ocean great you from your back porch every day. The beach holds many treasures of seashells and sharks teeth. Ocean goers can also choose to surf fish or to fish from the pier, but that's not all. For the sporting folks there is bike riding, golf, chartered boats with half day or all day fishing, surfing, body surfing, swimming, tennis, and that's just a few offerings.

There is always something for the seafood lovers. The island provides shrimp and other seafood catches at local open markets along with fresh produce. If you don't wish to cook in your rental you can also enjoy many of the chain, and mom and pop restaurants on the island. One of the best in my opinion is Sherri's which offers sound views and comforting atmosphere. They have seafood and steak on the menu. My favorite is their filet mignon served with their house salad. Another on the island if you want to go nontraditional is Max's Pizza. You will want to make reservations or call your order ahead as their is a line for seating and for ordering. One other we have frequented is Island Delights. Ice cream, sodas and old fashioned hamburgers. The Ice cream there always seems to taste so much better.

If you want to take a day trip you can always go to Wilmington where there are ghost walks, carriage rides and the Cotton Exchange where you can shop till your hearts content. One of the major attractions you won't want to miss is the S.S. North Carolina .The Battleship is a site to held. This a self guided tour and I am not sure, but there may also be some guided tours if you wish of this fine lady of the sea. The S.S. North Carolina is also said to be haunted, so if you are into the spirit world this is for you. There are also multiple places in North Carolina that have been used in movie and television such as Dawson's Creek, Matlock, Black Dog, Sleeping with Enemy, Nights in Rodanthe, and Muppets in Space. Wilmington has been nick named Little Hollywood.

Our family have spent many hours in the lovely rental homes relaxing on the beach and around the family table and I hope your family will enjoy it as much as ours.
