Well, the tree is dark and a new year has occurred. The last year is now a memory. I have done and experienced a lot of things this year, and it is here I have decided to do a few new things. In my Blog, I will be writing some editorials and reviews on places and things my family has enjoyed so that you may share with your family if you wish.
There will vacation and short outings from the year and recipes that have become a tradition and new things that we may take on in the year from health and wellness to new places. There will also be book and movie reviews along the way. This is the attempt to make your life easier and also give you a chance to get to me.
Today I will be spending time with my husbands family in part. Some of them have decided not to join in on their Christmas as the flu bug is starting to hit some of them. All you can do is pray for them and hope that we will be able to all get together at some point this year.
The topic today came from a gift my husband presented me with for our 28th Wedding Anniversary. Every year he surprises me with a trip or event. This year I got a Gold Pass for Kings Island Amusement Park. For those of you that do not know where or what Kings Island is I will leave a link to the Facebook and their website at the end.
Kings Island Amusement Park is a family oriented park where they cater to the young and young at heart. From the time I was a child, we spent at least a day at the park every year. It was our vacation most years. 1972 Kings Island opened its gates in an attempt to expand Coney Island, nestled next to the Ohio River, but the area was prone to flooding. In the project, they created Kings Island, which is now a family destination.
Known as Paramount's King’s Island 1992-2006 then going to what is now Kings Island, Cedar Fair houses 15 different coasters, water park, and family rides over 364 acres. Kings Island opens in early spring through the summer months and select weekends in the fall for Kings Island Haunt to reopen for select weekends for WinterFest. Winterfest was part of the Park 12 years ago opening last year in 2017 for the Holiday season making its return to winter fun for family Holiday fun.
With an ice rink on the Royal Fountain and 300-foot tree, transforming the Eiffel Tower, which is 1/3 the scale of its original in Paris. International Street was initially meant to look like a street in Paris. There were different areas of the park — Coney Island, which represented Coney Island, River Town, (self-explanatory), Hanna Barbara, and Octoberfest.
Some memorable events in which was not available for was the filming of television shows I wish I had been there for. January 26, 1973, The Partridge Family filmed I left My Heart in Cincinnati. Shirley Jones and her step-son, David Cassidy along with the rest of the fictional family, shot an episode there. (Episode #66 Season 3).
November 23, 1973, The Cincinnati Kids aired. The cast of the Brady Bunch filmed at the park that year showing the main parts of the park multiple times over. Telling the story of Mike designing a new roller coaster in the park, which lined up with the development of the longest, fastest wooden roller coaster now known as The Beast. There have also been Brady reunions since.
This year was the first time in approximately five years since I had visited the park. During Winterfest, (which I highly recommend if you love Christmas lights and Christmas fantasy) is a dreamland for kids and their grown-up family. We spent some time watching ice skating. If I had been younger, I might have joined the rest. The problem with being older is that if I make a graceful fall, it is much harder and farther from the ground. The Christmas music and multiple shows were enough to keep the entire family happy and well entertained.
There were many Christmas treats, hot chocolate, Crème Brule Funnel Cake, among other sweets. They also had many other celebratory foods. The smells and sights left you on overload. Some of the usual attractions were open one of them is Mystic Timbers and most of the kid's attractions in the Snoopy Planet area and the train.
The visit was well worth it and if you want to take advantage of more than just Winterfest, the season pass can be well worth it. You can get the best pass prices at Christmas time, but if you go more than once a year, a pass is worth it if you go twice during the year, including Winterfest. The admission for one adult during the season for one trip for an adult is 39.99. A Gold pass has now been 113.00; This his includes your parking.
Keep watching for more reviews of many other places. For now, everyone, enjoy life and be kind to each other.
